Benefit Fact Sheet
The Air Force Assistance Fund supports Department of Air Force families by providing financial assistance from the beginning of active service until death. Assistance is provided though its four charities the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, and the LeMay Foundation.
Active duty, Retirees, reservists, guard and dependents, including Surviving spouses are eligible to receive assistance from the Air Force Assistance Fund. Eligibility varies between charities, see the charity that fits your needs to determine eligibility for benefits.

Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) - The official charity of the U.S. Air Force, AFAS promotes the Air Force mission by helping "to relieve distress of Air Force members and their families and assisting them to finance their education". It is rooted in the original Army Air Corps and the World War II Army Air Forces, whose members wanted to "take care of their own."
AFAS provides three categories of assistance:

- Community programs – Contact the local Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) to apply

Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) - Located in Shalimar, Florida AFEV provides a safe, secure home for retired enlisted Airmen or their surviving spouse. AFEV has two communities Bob Hope Village, an independent living community and Hawthorne House, an assisted living and memory support residence. Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation (AFVCF) - Provides financial assistance to current residents of Blue Skies of Texas, who are Surviving Spouses of Air Force officers in financial need. Funds can be used for living expenses, transportation, health services, and personal care services at Blue Skies of Texas, located in San Antonio.

General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation - Provides financial support though monthly grants or one time payments to Surviving Spouses of Air Force & Space Force retirees. To apply for assistance download the application or request an application by calling 1-800-554-3823. Mail the completed application to:
