The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), located at Wright Patterson AFB, is the Department of the Air Force's leader for advanced, multi-disciplinary academic education, as well as its institution for initial technical and professional continuing education. A component of Air University and Air Education and Training Command, AFIT provides innovative, defense-focused graduate education and related research, and operationally-relevant initial skills training and professional continuing education to sustain the technological supremacy of America's air, space, and cyber forces.
AFIT accomplishes this mission through four schools: the Graduate School of Engineering and Management, the School of Systems and Logistics, the School of Strategic Force Studies, and the Civil Engineer School. Through its Civilian Institution Programs Office, AFIT also manages the educational programs of Department of the Air Force Service Members enrolled in civilian universities, research centers, teaching hospitals, and industrial organizations.
Department of the Air Force Service members on active duty are eligible for AFIT. Admission requirements vary based on the program. See AFIT’s eligibility page for more information.

Academic Schools and Enrollment
Each program has unique enrollment requirements and application processes. Refer to each school’s application page for detailed information. For questions, reach out to your unit’s education office or individual staff members within your program of interest.
The Civil Engineer School offers Professional Continuing Education (PCE) courses designed to educate future Air Force engineers to provide a steady flow of competent engineers for the Air Force.
Programs include: Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Housing and Dormitories, and Technical Engineering.
The Civilian Institutions Program Office manages the largest part of AFIT's advanced academic education enterprise. Approximately 1,900 students are enrolled in a variety of health profession programs (e.g., medical, dental, nursing, biomedical, etc.) and another 500 line, legal and chaplain officers are enrolled in various programs at leading civilian universities and research centers. The office also manages the Air Force's Education With Industry (EWI) program, through which about 40-50 military and civilian Airmen annually spend a year with companies to learn industry best-practices and bring those practices back to the Air Force.

Graduate School of Engineering & Management
The Graduate School of Engineering and Management is a nationally-recognized, Carnegie-classified High Research Activity doctoral institution and is the sole degree-granting entity at AFIT. It provides graduate degrees and certificates in engineering, applied science, mathematics and management. The school provides its students with several significant advantages, including a more personalized educational experience; academic programs with a defense-related focus; and research on high-priority defense problems. Its in-residence and distance learning degree programs serve military and civilian students across the U.S. Air and Space Forces, Department of Defense, other government agencies, International partners, and government contractors.

School of Strategic Force Studies
The School of Strategic Force Studies manages the professional continuing education of space (via the National Security Space Institute at Peterson AFB), nuclear (via the Nuclear College at Kirtland AFB) & cyber (via AFIT at Wright-Patterson AFB).
Programs include: Department of Nuclear Studies; Department of Cyberspace Studies; Department of Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Studies; and the Nuclear Academic Partnerships Department
AFIT LS is the Air Force's designated provider of Professional Continuing Education (PCE) courses in Acquisition Management, Systems Engineering, Financial Management, Software Engineering and Logistics Management.
Programs include: Program Management, Cyber & Intel, Data Analytics, Product Support, Supply Chain Management, Operational Logistics, Contracting, Financial Management, Leadership & Mission Support, Test & Evaluation, Engineering, and Software Engineering & Management
