The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is a mandatory enrollment program that that provides comprehensive support and services to military families with medical and educational needs throughout the service member’s career. EFMP is comprised of three interrelated components across the Air Force to include Family Support, Assignment Coordination and Identification and Enrollment. Airmen and Guardians on active duty are enrolled in the program when they have a family member with a known chronic or long-term medical or educational disorder. The overall goal of EFMP is to ensure family’s needs are considered during the assignment process so they can thrive in military life.
