Special Pay is additional monthly and/or annual pay given to eligible active duty service members who perform certain specific duties, serve in specific geographic locations, occupy specific Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC), or are given certain specific assignments.

Air Force Reserve Service members on Drill status are typically not eligible for Special Pay, with the exception of the Aviation Bonus.

Aviation Bonus (AvB) (Officers): The Air Force Reserve Aviation Bonus Program offers different installment amounts paid annually up to $50,000 for Active Guard Reservists and up to $30,000 for Air Reserve Technicians with a rated AFSC (11X, 12X, 18X) among other eligibility requirements.
